The top three ranks
for medical seats in Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) 2016 were bagged
by students from Karnataka. PGET was conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) in the month of January 2016. Results of PGET were announced on Thursday, February 04, 2016.
The Mangaluru girl Rachel Althea Sequeira has topped the COMDEK-PGET
2016 while Anand K N N and Devesh Sanjeev Ballal, both from Bengaluru,
secured the second and third rank respectively. In the dental category
Siddharth Datta Bandodkar from Goa has secured the first rank, the
second topper is B S Sai Harinath from Telangana and the third topper
Shilpi Tiwari from Uttar Pradesh.
Rachel Althea Sequeira, an MBBS student of Kasturba Medical College,
Mangaluru who has also secured 42nd rank in the entrance test at AIIMS,
New Delhi says she was preparing for multiple examinations and devoted
six to eight hours every day to her studies. She is willing to pursue
General Medicine and said she would wait for the Results of all the competitive exams before short listing her preferences.
The Results
of this national entrance test, which is a gateway for taking
admissions to postgraduate medical and dental courses in unaided
colleges in Karnataka which was conducted online for the first time at
141 centres in 72 cities across the country.
8199 (50%) candidates in medical and 1949 (44%) of the candidates in
dental who have written the test qualified for participating in the Comedk seat selection process. Out of these 2006 (24%) candidates in medical and 300 (15%) candidates in dental are from Karnataka.
The cut-off rank for a clinical seat in Medical PGET 2015 was 985, and
2,382 for the Dental PG program (both general merit) as said by AS
Srikanth, the Chief executive of Comedk. The tuition fees, the number of seats available and the counselling dates will be intimated soon.
