Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has announced the eligibility criteria for participation in joint seat allocation of IITs, ISM Dhanbad, NITs, IIITs and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Candidates, who satisfy one or more of the below mentioned criteria, are eligible for participating in the joint seat allocation for admissions to the undergraduate engineer programme of the IITs, ISM Dhanbad, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. JoSAA 2015 Eligibility Criteria for IITs and ISM Dhanbad:
Criterion 1: Candidates must have qualified in JEE Advanced 2015 for academic programs (excluding the preparatory courses) at IITs and ISM Dhanbad AND satisfy the “Performance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination”.
Criterion 2: Candidates must have qualified in JEE (Advanced) 2015 for preparatory courses at IITs and ISM Dhanbad AND satisfy the “Performance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination”.

JoSAA 2015 Eligibility Criteria for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs:
Criterion 3: Candidates must have secured a rank in JEE (Main) 2015 Paper-1 (B.E./B.Tech.) ANDhave obtained 45% (for GEN) or 40% (for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD) aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) examination.
Marks obtained in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks:
- Any one language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Any one of these- Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or technical vocational subject
- Any other fifth subject
Criterion 4: Candidates must have secured a rank in JEE (Main) 2015 Paper-2 (B.Arch./B.Planning)AND have Mathematics as one of the subjects in Class XII (or equivalent) examination.
AND they must have obtained 50% aggregate marks (irrespective of whether the candidate belongs to the GEN, OBC-NCL, SC, ST or PwD category) in total five subjects including Mathematics.
Seat allocation for academic programs offered by 88 Institutes will be done jointly through JoSAA for the academic year 2015-16. The process of joint seat allocation will commence through a common web portal from 25 June 2015.
In 2014, seat allotment procedure for JEE Main qualifiers for admission to NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs was conducted by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). For admissions to IITs and ISM Dhanbad, the seat allotment procedure was conducted by Joint Admission Board (JAB) for JEE Advanced qualifiers.
From 2015 onwards, Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has been formed that consists of representatives from JAB 2015 and CSAB 2015. This authority will conduct joint seat allocation procedure for qualifying candidates of JEE Main & Advanced, and will grant admission to IITs, ISM Dhanbad, NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs.
