Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced the exam dates for Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET), which will be conducted in May 2016. KCET will be held on Wednesday, May 04, 2016 and Thursday, May 05, 2016.
KCET is conducted for taking to admission to Bachelor of Medicine
Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor
of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and
Surgery (BUMS), Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (BNYS),
Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS), Bachelor of
Engineering (B.E), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Bachelor of
Architecture (B.Arch), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), Bachelor of
Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & A.H), Bachelor
of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), lateral entry to B.Pharm and Pharm.D programs for
the session 2016.
Eligibility Criteria for KCET 2016:
- For MBBS/BDS Programs: Candidates should have passed in 2nd PUC/12th standard/equivalent exam with English as one of the languages and a minimum of 50% of marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology subjects.
- For B.E/B.Tech Programs: Candidates should have passed in 2nd PUC/12th standard/equivalent exam with English as one of the languages and a minimum of 45% of marks in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry, Bio-Technology/ Bilogy/ Electronics/ Computer Science.
- For B.Arch Program: Candidates should have passed in 2nd PUC/12th standard/equivalent exam with Mathematics as compulsory subject and a minimum of 50% of marks in all the subjects.
Application Procedure for KCET 2016:
- Step 1: Candidates can apply online.
- Step 2: Upload the scanned copy of recent passport size color photograph, signature and left hand impression of candidate and signature of parent.
- Step 3: Print the challan copy. Candidates of Karnataka origin have to pay fee amount of Rs. 650/- for general and OBC (Rs. 500/- for SC/ST category 1 of Karnataka candidates only). Rs. 750/- in case of candidates residing outside the state of Karnataka and Rs. 5000/- in case of candidates residing outside India.
- Step 4: Candidates should take the print out of the filled in online application form.

Paper Pattern for KCET 2016:
- KCET comprises of 4 papers namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
- Each question paper comprises of 60 objective type questions.
- The maximum time given for answering each paper is 80 minutes.
- Each correct response given by the candidate carries 1 mark and there is no deduction of marks for any wrong answers.
- The Physics and Chemistry paper are compulsory for all the candidates and the candidate who desires to pursue MBBS/BDS must attend the Biology and rest candidates must attend the Mathematics paper.
